Arts Leadership Program Advising

As an ALP certificate candidate, you have the benefit of being registered into ALP courses before any other Eastman School of Music student! This semester's advising sessions are now being scheduled with the Assistant Director.

Advising sessions are ***required*** in the Fall for newly admitted certificate students. Other than that, these sessions are optional. Any student, however, may sign up for a session to talk about any questions you might have about special opportunity grants or internships. If all you are interested in is pre-registering for courses, just fill out the pre-registration form and return it to the ALP office by the deadline required. Questions on courses may be directed to Linda Altpeter, ALP Curriculum Coordinator, at laltpeter@esm.rochester.edu or 582-274-1113.

Advising for next semester will be held:

Tuesday, October 18 to Thursday, October 27, 2011

Sign up sheets will be available starting Monday October 3 from 9:00 am-4:00 pm Mon-Friday in the ALP Office in the IML Suite in Miller Center. First come, first serve so sign up early for the best times!

ALL students -- information you will need to review and/or prepare **prior** to your advising session:

And in preparation for discussion on internships, you are strongly encouraged to review:

Before our session, please review the curriculum and think about what courses you may be interested in taking next semester. Please remember that there are “core” courses you will be required to take. Bring the completed registration form or we can fill it out together. We’ll also be talking about additional grants available for summer, post graduation, and special opportunities as well as local internships for the following year.

You are strongly encouraged to have a résumé or curriculum vita prepared prior to the end of the Fall semester. You will be using this to apply for an internship, audition, apply to grad school or for a job. The ESM Office of Careers and Professional Development has some resources here that can help you in writing it. After you have looked at those resources and have your first draft, see information on setting up an advising session with the Careers office here. A professionally crafted résumé absolutely makes a difference.

Please contact the ALP office should you have any other questions.
