Orchestra Musicians Forum: Polyphonic Conference of Key Orchestra Musician Leaders
Monday, September 8, 2008
9:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Ciminelli Lounge in the Student Living Center
This conference of orchestra musician leaders brings together the chairpersons of 22 of the largest orchestras in the country to discuss the Orchestra Musician Forum website, Polyphonic.org--its impact on the orchestra world since its inception two and one half years ago and its future direction. To the best of our knowledge this is the first time this group of musicians, who are elected by their respective orchestras, has been assembled in such a meeting. The conference is facilitated by Paul Boulian, who has worked extensively in the areas of strategy, leadership and accelerated change processes for both corporate and nonprofit entities. Paul has worked with symphony orchestra organizations to design and implement facilitated change processes since 1993.
Open to ESM faculty and staff only. In conjunction with this conference, master classes are being held as noted below. Please note location -- master classes are NOT being held in Ciminelli.

Kauffman Dissertation Fellowship Program
The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation is pleased to announce the Kauffman Dissertation Fellowship Program, an initiative of great significance to the faculty and students of your institution. During the 2008-2009 academic year, the Kauffman Foundation will award up to 15 Dissertation Fellowship grants of $20,000 each to Ph.D., D.B.A. or other doctoral students for the support of dissertations in the area of entrepreneurship. Recipients may use the grant to pay for costs associated with their dissertation, including data collection and analysis, databases, specialized hardware/software, and travel.
This initiative will help launch a cohort of world-class scholars into this young and exciting field, thus laying a foundation for future scientific advancement. We hope that the findings generated by this effort will be translated into knowledge with immediate application for policy makers, educators, service providers and entrepreneurs.
