Some additional resources for those interested in learning more about Indonesian music:

American Gamelan Institute http://www.gamelan.org  . A wonderful site with a wide array of resources including books, online journals, and recordings on the subject of Indonesian arts. Also included is a directory of gamelans in North America and a webcast radio station!

Gamelan Sekar Jaya http://www.gsj.org . Sekar Jaya, the first Balinese gamelan to form in the United States, has created a site rich in educational resources about the music.

Gamelan Mécanique http://www.cite-musique.fr/gamelan . A French site with an outstanding computer program (in both online and downloadable versions) that allows you to actually play the instruments of the gamelan note-by-note by clicking your mouse on photographs. It also includes several traditional Indonesian pieces that are sequenced and can be played back while watching the instruments light up on the screen as you hear them. The high-quality photographs and sounds provide you with an excellent aural and visual representation of the gamelan!

Gamelan Mitra Kusuma http://www.dcgamelan.com. The website of one of our fellow gamelan ensembles, founded by our master teacher I Nyoman Suadin.
