Financial Support for Summer Session Study

horizontal rule

Students enrolled for the Summer Session may be able to cover their summer costs with Federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized loans, and Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loans for graduate students. Eligible students must be enrolled both in a degree program and for six or more credit hours to be certified for a Federal Direct Loan. The amount of loan borrowed for summer study will be included in the student’s maximum federal loan eligibility for the 2008-2009 academic year. Eligibility for Federal Direct Loans will be determined by Eastman’s analysis of the 2008-2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); www.fafsa.ed.gov, a completed 2008-2009 Graduate Financial Aid Application including a copy of the student's summer registration and the student’s individual Cost of Attendance for summer. Living expenses (up to 6 weeks worth for students enrolled solely in the ESM Summer Session Program) may or may not be included in a student's summer session budget depending on the student's course load, the period of enrollment and student's enrollment status.

Matriculated students registering for less than 6 credit hours may be able to secure a private summer loan through one of the many lenders. Students should exhaust all other options prior to applying for these loans. Please consult with a Financial Aid Counselor for more details.
