The University publishes the Faculty/Staff and Student Directories once a year. These directories are distributed each fall and contain phone, address and e-mail information, along with information on how to use the phone system. The Facilities Department handles the distribution. For the most current information, consult the online directory (updated monthly) at: http://www.rochester.edu/directory.
Refer to the University of Rochester Telecommunications Directory (back section) for telephone use. If you have any problems with the mechanics of your phone, dial 4-HELP (x4-4357), and the Telecommunications Division Help Desk representative will assist you. Each Department is responsible for requesting telephone installations and/or changes from Telecommunications. This is done on a ITSR form. For detailed information on using the University telephone system (including conference calls, phone mail, call forwarding, etc.), consult the UR Telephone User’s Guide. To request a copy of the User’s Guide, call 4-HELP (x4-4357).
Long Distance Calls/International Calls
The Eastman exchange is 274 followed by four digits. (274-xxxx) If you are making an internal call, dial 4 and the last four digits of the telephone number only. External calls must be preceded with a “9” for an outside line. Departments monitor long distance calls with a pre-established phone code to track phone charges. Consult your departmental secretary or the ESM Financial and Human Resource Office for the code for your particular telephone. Due to the expense of international calls, each individual call is approved through the ESM Financial and Human Resource Office. Call x4-1080 in advance to get the international call code.
