Students’ Associations

The Eastman School of Music has two students’ associations: the Eastman Students’ Association (or “SA,” the undergraduate organization) and the Eastman Graduate Students’ Association (or “GSA”).  Both students’ associations are advised by the Office of Student Life.

The Eastman Graduate Students’ Association exists to provide for a unified student voice to influence decisions of the university administration; ensure that student activity fees are appropriately spent on student activities; promote open, straightforward, and inclusive graduate student governance; and create a university environment in which students can pursue their interests.  Website: http://www.esm.rochester.edu/gsa/

The purpose of the Eastman Student Association is to act as a liaison between the undergraduate students and the administration; to provide social activities to enhance and enrich student life; to promote the cultural, social, and physical welfare of the campus; to protect the academic and non-academic rights of the students; to maintain academic freedom and responsibility; to ensure quality educational standards, facilities, and teaching methods within the school; and to provide a forum for the expression of student views and interests.  In addition to the student organizations at Eastman, students have the opportunity to join any of the student organizations at the College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering.  Students who are interested in joining an Eastman student group, creating a new student group, or joining a group on the River Campus are encouraged to speak with the Eastman Students’ Association President or the Assistant Dean for Student Life.  Website: http://www.esm.rochester.edu/sa/
