Downtown Special Services

The new Downtown Special Services Teams make downtown Rochester safer and friendlier. The teams are easy to recognize in their red and black uniforms with signature logo.  The program consists of several components:

Safety Services Team

The Downtown Safety Team enhances the public perception of comfort, accessibility and safety for all downtown users (visitors, workers, residents, etc.). Team members ride bicycles, walk and even drive a GEM car (electric car) to cover 13 distinct downtown neighborhoods. They are also accessible, approachable and helpful serving as a public information resource.

You’ll find them around downtown:

Monday – Friday 1:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.; Sunday – Saturday 5:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. and at other times as needed for special downtown events and activities.

Information Services Team

Information specialists provide directions and give accurate information to downtown visitors, workers and residents.  You can find them in the Downtown Information Center ready to answer all your questions. Team members also update information for the website www.rochesterdowntown.com through contact with street level businesses.

Downtown Information Center

The Center is located in the heart of the hotel and convention district at the corner of St. Paul and East Main Streets. Here you can find maps and information about downtown restaurants, activities, entertainment sites and other services and resources.
