How the Office of Advancement supports the Eastman School

The Eastman School Office of Advancement coordinates all of the School’s development and alumni relations programs.  We work closely with the Dean and Senior Advancement leadership from the University of Rochester in identifying and soliciting support for the School’s annual and long-range priorities.  Our office also partners with University Advancement to coordinate local and national outreach to Eastman alumni.

Reasons to Contact the Office of Advancement

If you receive a gift for the School: If an Eastman friend or donor delivers a gift to you, please contact the Advancement Office right away so that we can ensure that the gift is deposited into the appropriate account and is used according to the donor’s intentions. All checks and accompanying documentation, including envelopes and letters, should be hand-delivered to our office as soon as they are received so that the donor may be acknowledged promptly.

If someone you know is interested in making a gift: Please contact our office if someone you know has expressed interest in giving to the Eastman School.  We will be happy to assist you in working with donors to ensure that their needs and those of the School are met.

If you have identified a fundraising need or opportunity: Faculty and staff are often aware of funding needs and opportunities in their specific areas. We are happy to speak with you to learn of these opportunities. The Office of Advancement coordinates all of the School’s fund-raising appeals in the effort to maintain a respectful relationship with our donors, while meeting the needs of the School.

Advancement Staff and Areas of Responsibility

The Executive Director of Advancement oversees all advancement-related issues and operations, and serves as the primary advancement contact for Eastman faculty, the Board of Managers, and University senior advancement staff.

The Executive Director of Major Gifts and Special Projects cultivates relationships and solicits support from donors and friends who have the potential to make significant gifts.

The Associate Director of Development serves as liaison to the University Offices of Annual Funds, George Eastman Circle, Parents Program, Reunion Programs, as well as the Eastman Community Music School.  She solicits high-end unrestricted gifts from alumni and friends to support the School’s areas of greatest current need.

The Assistant Director of Development Programs works to ensure that the giving experience is meaningful and rewarding for donors to the Eastman School. He oversees the acknowledgement process and recognition of our supporters, prepares reports, and serves as the primary advancement contact for questions involving Eastman scholarship funds.

The Administrative Assistant manages the Executive Director’s calendar, provides support for all areas of Advancement, and handles questions and requests directed to the general office phone line.
