It is strongly recommended that people back up all of the files that they have saved to MediaOcean, because at the end of each semester, everything will be removed. Many students have come to us weeks after the end of a semester asking about the whereabouts of their files, only to find out that their hard work has been destroyed forever! Please don’t make the same mistake!

For some reason you may find that the name of your course is not to your liking. Or even worse, your course was created without a real title at all (this can happen if the course was created before the title of the course was officially added). What do you do? Please follow the steps below:

1.) Go to Control Panel > Customization > Properties

2.) Under 1. Name and Description change the name of your course.

3.) Click Submit

Did that work for you? If so, here is a PDF* version for good measure. If not, please let me know.

*You will be asked to sign in with your Blackboard username and password before downloading.

Summer is here! That brings not only warm weather, verdant vegetation and delicious backyard barbecues, but also confusion regarding how to gain access to Blackboard for some of our incoming students in both Summer and Fall semesters. Usually the problem is similar to scenarios described below:

An incoming student needs to acquire a NetID but the student does not know where to find his/her Student ID to begin the Initialization process.

The student knows their Student ID, but their NetID is not letting them login to Blackboard.

The NetID of a new student must be initialized before it can be used to access Blackboard. Of course, you need to know your Student ID in order to begin the initialization process. The following steps should help resolve either of the above mysteries of our time:

1.) http://www.rochester.edu/its/netid/

click “University Account Initialization” (https://myidentity.rochester.edu/newuser)

If you know your Student ID, continue with the initialization process. If not, see Step 2 below.

2.) Click the link “What is my Student ID?” (http://www.rochester.edu/its/netid/studentid.html)

For Eastman Students: Your Student ID number is printed on your Final Decision Form (admissions paperwork).

If you are still having issues, please do not hesitate to contact bb@esm.rochester.edu.
