Lab Computers

Eastman Media Lab

Purpose: Academic study; open to students, faculty and staff.

Location: 1st Floor Student Living Center, 103a (across from the Office of Student Life)

Hours:
Fall and Spring Semesters:
8AM - Midnight, first 2 weeks of classes; 24/7 thereafter.

Summer Session:
8AM - Midnight

Winter/Spring Breaks:
Winter Break we are closed. Spring Break we remain open with reduced hours.

Staffing Availability:
Monday - Friday:  9:30AM - Midnight
Saturday - Sunday: 10AM - Midnight

Hardware:
12 Apple 1.25 GHz eMacs equipped with Combo-Drives; Mac OS X 10.4

9 Dell Optiplex 3GHz Pentium D GX-620s with DVD+R/RW; Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2

2 Apple 1.83GHz iMacs; Mac OS X 10.4

1 Apple 2GHz Dual G5 Media Work Station, connected to the following equipment:

  • Sony MD deck (not Hi-MD capable)
  • Nakamichi cassette deck
  • Samsung DVD/VHS combo deck
  • JVC MiniDV/VHS combo deck
  • Pioneer LaserDisc deck
  • Denon LP Player

2 HP LaserJet 9040dn Printers with two-sided capabilities, allowing for printing on letter (8.5x11), legal (8.5x14) and tabloid (11x17) paper sizes.

2 CanoScan 8400F scanners, with negative mounts available upon request

4 M-Audio Keystation 49e USB MIDI Controller 49-key keyboards

Internet Café

Purpose: Recreation and communication; Open to students, faculty and staff.

Location:
Basement Main Building

Hours:
7:00AM - 11PM.
Subject to availability on Academic breaks.

Hardware:
9 Apple eMacs equipped with Mac OS X 10.2.8

Software:
FireFox, AIM, Safari, Yahoo Messenger, Goliath, Adobe Reader and Text Edit

Special Feature:
Wireless Internet access for most mobile devices. Please see Eastman Computing Services in ESM 35 to register your Wi-Fi capable laptop or PDA.

 

 

 


Sibley Library

Purpose: Research on Voyager and library databases.

Location:
Sibley Music Library

Staffing:
While not on site you can call x4-1243 during business hours for help. Or email nwaters@esm.rochester.edu

Hours:
Open during library hours and subject to availability should a class be in session.

Hardware:
15 Compaq iPaq 866’s running Windows 2000

Software:
FireFox, Internet Explorer, Winamp, RealPlayer, Quicktime and an SSH client.
