How to Connect

UR/ESM Community Members
UR & ESM community members have three options to connect to the UR Wireless network.

  1. The UR_Connected connection uses your Active Directory account to provide the highest level of security. It uses WPA2 (WiFi Protected Access with advanced encryption). This connection allows you to authenticate just once, meaning you won’t have to login each time you connect to the UR Wireless network.

Guest Access

If you are not a member of the UR community, but need access to the UR Wireless network, you have two options.

  1. Guests can access the secured UR_RC_InternalSecure connection, with access to University/Eastman resources, by obtaining sponsored access through a University faculty member, staff, or student. Information on the Guest NetID program is available at http://www.rochester.edu/it/netid/guest_netid.html. The UR_RC_InternalSecure connection uses WPA (WiFi Protected Access) to provide security by encrypting traffic between a personal computer and the wireless network. Please note that the request for a Guest NetID should be filled out prior to campus arrival.
