ESM email on Android device

Eastman faculty/staff email (@esm.rochester.edu) can easily be added to an Android device that has firmware 2.0 or higher.

PLEASE NOTE: Because each device may have a different look of Android, these screenshots may not look like your device.  However, the information for setting up is consistent.

NOTE ALSO: There are some limitations to using an Eastman (@esm.rochester.edu) email on Android OS.

  • Will not let a user Accept or Reject Meeting Invites
  • Does not support Global Address List (GAL) lookup when typing an address in an email
  • Does not feature ability to create Signatures and insert into emails

Configure the Android device

1) On the home screen of your Android device, tap the Applications icon on the bottom.

2) Scroll down until you see Email and tap the app.

3) Enter your @esm.rochester.edu e-mail address in the Email Address field, your password in the password field, and click on Next.

4) Tap the Exchange Account option.

5) In the Domain\Username field, type ur\username in the domain field (username meaning yours), your password in the password field, enter webmail.ur.rochester.edu in the Exchange Server field, and put a checkmark on Use secure connection (SSL). Tap Next.

6) Adjust your Email checking frequency and Amount to synchronize to your liking.

7) Then put a checkmark for the following:

  • Send email from this account by default
  • Notify me when email arrives
  • Sync contacts from this account.

8) When finished, tap Next.

9) Set the account name to Eastman and under Your Name, put in your full name, when finished, tap Done.
