Eastman provides Sophos Anti-Virus for faculty and staff home computers. If you currently have other anti-virus software on your computer, it is strongly recommended that you remove this software before installing Sophos.
Students can obtain Sophos Anti-Virus by going to the University IT Security web site.
Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7
- Download Sophos for Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 by entering your ESM computer/e-mail username and password.
- Double-click the downloaded SAVSCFXP.zip file.
- Open the SAVSCFXP folder that was created and double click setup.exe.
- At the setup window, enter \ESMSOPHOS\Home in the Group Path and click the OK button. Note: Do not enter a username or password or select any additional security software to install.
- An installation progress window will appear while Sophos is installing. Once installation is complete, a purple shield icon will appear in your system tray (next to your clock).
Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X 10.4/10.5/10.6/10.7
- Download Sophos for Mac OS X by entering your ESM computer/e-mail username and password when prompted.
- Double-click the downloaded ESCOSX.zip file.
- Double-click Sophos Anti-Virus.mpkg.
- At the Welcome screen, click the Continue button.
- At the Important Information screen, click the Continue button.
- Select your system hard drive and click the Continue button.
- At the Installation Type screen, click the Install button.
- Once installation is complete, click the Close button. You will notice a shield icon in your top menu bar (next to your clock).
