Sophos Anti-Virus

Eastman provides Sophos Anti-Virus for faculty and staff home computers. If you currently have other anti-virus software on your computer, it is strongly recommended that you remove this software before installing Sophos.

Students can obtain Sophos Anti-Virus by going to the University IT Security web site.

Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7

Step 1: Download Sophos for Windows 2000/XP/Vista by entering your ESM computer/e-mail username and password.

Step 2: Double-click the downloaded SAVSCFXP.zip file.

Step 3: Open the SAVSCFXP folder that was created and double click setup.exe.

Step 4: At the setup window, click the OK button. Note: do not enter a username or password.

Step 5: An installation progress window will appear while Sophos is installing. Once installation is complete, a shield will appear in your system tray (next to your clock).

Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X 10.4/10.5/10.6

Step 1: Download Sophos for Mac OS X by entering your ESM computer/e-mail username and password when prompted.

Step 2: Double-click the downloaded ESCOSX.zip file.

Step 3: Double-click Sophos Anti-Virus.mpkg.

Step 4: At the Welcome screen, click the Continue button.

Step 5: At the Important Information screen, click the Continue button.

Step 6: Select your system hard drive and click the Continue button.

Step 7: At the Installation Type screen, click the Install button.

Step 8: Once installation is complete, click the Close button. You will notice a shield icon in your top menu bar (next to your clock).
