Course Mergers on Hold until Web Based Course Tool is Back Online

December 23, 2015

Snow? No. Course merging? No. Indeed, just as there should be snow on the ground and we should be tired of it by now, we should also be having our courses merged and cheering (or at least smiling). While an El Niño can be blamed for our lack of snow, we can only blame another regular phenomenon, this time web based, that prevents us from merging our courses: Web site down. A classic 404.

Having courses that can not be merged, need not leave you feeling listless and unfulfilled, however. Please follow these steps to ensure proper course merging and save time and effort while doing so:

  1. Determine your parent course (the course that absorbs, or “cares for” the child courses that will join the parent)
  2. Email me the courses that you would like to have merged in the following format (Course ID with a “P” designating the parent):
    • ESM101.2016SPRING.12345  (P)
    • ESM101G.2016SPRING.54321
  3. Work in the parent course as if your courses were already merged.
  4. Smile when you receive confirmation that your courses have been successfully merged.

Once the web tool becomes available again, I will start merging as quickly as I can.

Wait, you say? Won’t all of my efforts be destroyed after the merge??? No, not at all. The child courses are joining the parent, not the other way around. As long as the parent course is designated properly, everything you do there will remain. Ah! Don’t you feel better, now?

With renewed vigor then, go on, heat up some hot chocolate (tea, coffee, hot water, etc.), put your feet up and get to work! In a relaxed way, of course. This is still Winter Break and you certainly deserve one. With or without having to shovel.
