MM - Duration of study / Residency Requirements
The residency requirement for the MM degree program is one year of full-time study, with the exceptions of the major in piano accompanying and chamber music, which has a two-year residency requirement; the majors in conducting, which normally requires two academic years in residence; and the summers-only major in music education, which may be completed through consecutive summer enrollment. Students holding a Graduate Award (who normally take a minimum of 18 credits during a year) or those who find it necessary to take part-time employment should plan to devote at least two years to the master's degree program. Requirements for the MM are expected to be completed within five years after the work is begun.
