Eastman Pathways Challenge Grant Update

Children Benefit from the Eastman Pathways Challenge Grant

In fiscal year 2005, the Eastman School of Music raised more than $257,000 in matching funds for the Eastman Pathways Endowed Fund, meeting its goal in the second year of a three-year $1 million challenge grant awarded under the Talented Students in the Arts Initiative, a collaboration of the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and the Surdna Foundation. Special thanks go to the following foundations that supported this program with grants last year:

Max A. Adler Charitable Foundation
The ASCAP Foundation, Irving Caesar Fund
Doris Duke Charitable Foundation
The Bay and Paul Foundation
Ronald McDonald House Charities
Surdna Foundation, Inc.
Fred & Floy Willmott Foundation
Elaine P. & Richard U. Wilson Foundation
Marie C. & Joseph C. Wilson Foundation

Now in the final year of this three-year challenge, the Eastman School of Music invites the Rochester community to help us meet our final goal of $255,000 by making a generous gift to the Eastman Pathways Endowed Fund by June 2006. The impact this program is making on the lives of talented youth is attested to in the following statement written by a graduate of the first Pathways class in 1998, as a freshman music education major at Cedarville College in Ohio:

"... You may not realize the impact you are having on the students in this partnership. You are making a difference... and there is a music ed major in the middle of the Ohio cornfield who wishes to say thank you and ask you to continue what you started. Give these kids the best you have to offer them, and they will give it back tenfold."
