Procedures for Specially Scheduled Recitals

Class or Studio Recitals may be arranged by any private teacher by contacting the office with specific requests for date, time and venue. Possible venues are Howard Hanson Hall, Messinger Hall Room One and classrooms. Teachers may also arrange for performances outside Eastman School of Music. Programs should be prepared and printed by ECMS staff. A typed or a legibly printed copy of the program must be submitted to the office one week prior to performance and should include date and place of recital, names of all performers, title of compositions (including opus numbers and movement names) and composer names.

Solo recitals may be arranged by a private teacher for an outstanding student by contacting the office with specific requests for date, time and venue. Possible venues are Howard Hanson Hall, Messinger Hall Room One and classrooms. Teachers may also arrange for performances outside Eastman School of Music. Programs should be prepared and printed by ECMS staff. A typed or a legibly printed copy of the program must be submitted to the office 2 weeks prior to performance and should include date and place of recital, names of all performers, title of compositions (including opus numbers and movement names) and composer names.

Chamber music recitals may be arranged by a chamber music teacher or coordinator by contacting the Concert office directly. The standard concert office form should be completed requesting Hatch Recital Hall, Howard Hanson Hall, Messinger Hall Room One, or any classroom. Programs should be prepared and printed by ECMS staff. A typed or a legibly printed copy of the program must be submitted to the office 2 weeks prior to performance and should include date and place of recital, names of all performers, title of compositions (including opus numbers and movement names) and composer names.

Honors Recitals may be scheduled by any high school senior or adult diploma candidate who has played an Honors Jury and received a passing grade. Parents, students or private teacher may contact the ECMS Office to schedule a date in May or June  for either Kilbourn Hall or Hatch Recital Hall. See Diploma section for details about the performance. Programs should be prepared and printed by ECMS office. A typed or a legibly printed copy of the program must be submitted to the office 2 weeks prior to performance and should include date and place of recital, name of the Honors student and any other performers, title of compositions (including opus numbers and movement names) and composer names. A bio or other notes are optional.

Senior Recitals must be scheduled through the Eastman Community Music School office and have the permission of the studio teacher. These recitals will occur during the months of May or June and should follow the same guidelines as other student solo recitals.


Programs for All Specially Scheduled Recitals

Programs for all specially scheduled recitals should be prepared and printed by ECMS office, not by individual faculty members. Typed or legibly printed copy of program must be submitted to the office 2 weeks prior to performance, and should include:

  • Name(s) of Performer(s)
  • Date and place of recital
  • Titles of compositions (key, opus number, movements, etc.)
  • Composer names
  • Accurate timings of all works
