Pre-College Recitals: All levels of accomplishment, but not open to adult students.
Adult Recitals: All levels of accomplishment, but not open to youth, i.e., students of high school age or younger.
Advanced Recital: For all students (children and adults) who have reached a minimum level IV curricular level or equivalent.

Procedures for General, Pre-College, Adult, and Advanced Division Recitals

To add your student to any appropriate Saturday recital, please complete the white form (available in the ECMS Office) and return to the Community Music School office. All forms are due by noon on Wednesday 10 days prior to the recital.  Use a separate form for each student being recommended. Each form must be legible and include:

  • Student name as it should appear on the program

  • Student’s school music teacher and district

  • Date of the recital

  • Title of Composition (key, opus number, movements, etc.)

  • Composer name

  • Student grade level, per Community Music School curriculum (I – VI)

  • Accurate timing of the composition

If you have several student entries, please submit them arranged in the order in which you would like to have the students perform, using a progression of less advanced to more advanced, and, secondarily, younger to older students.

You may request earlier or later recital times in the event that there may be more than one program, but there is no guarantee that your request will be honored. (Recitals usually start at 2 p.m., and if there is a second program, that will usually start at 3:30.) Each student performance should be limited to six minutes, but occasionally longer performances are acceptable. Administration has the right to eliminate movements or require cuts if total time is excessive. Total performance time of an ECMS recital should never exceed 50 minutes, in order that programs last no longer than an hour.

Rehearsal time is often available in the Hall before the 2 p.m. recital, ending 15 minutes before the recital begins. Sign-up sheets are kept at the ECMS reception desk, and faculty members may sign up for 15-minute blocks for their students’ use.

  • Name(s) of Performer(s)
  • Date and place of recital
