Keiko Ying

112_Ying_KeikoKeiko Ying (cello) has served as principal cello for City Music Cleveland Chamber Orchestra for eight years. She was born and raised in Boise, Idaho, and began studying cello at age ten. She joined the Boise Philharmonic when she was fourteen; since then, Ms. Ying has been a member of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra and principal of the Spoleto Festival Orchestra, and has performed at the Aspen, Skaneateles, Colorado College, Lake George, and Bowdoin International music festivals. Her chamber music performances include collaborations with Leon Fleisher, Gil Shaham, Alex Kerr, Wu Han, Matt Haimovitz, Lawrence Dutton, and others.

Ms. Ying is on the faculty at Roberts Wesleyan College and the Eastman Community Music School. She earned her D.M.A. at the Eastman School of Music studying with Alan Harris, and previous teachers include Christoph Henkel and Ekkehard Weber at the Hochschule fur Music in Freiburg, Germany. She makes her home in Rochester, NY with her husband and two daughters.
