ECMS Diplomas and Performance Achievement
ECMS Diplomas Recognize Performance Achievement
The name of your major (instrument / voice / theory) will be added to your diploma if you reach an ECMS curricular level of 5 or higher.
For example, a diploma candidate who is majoring in piano, has received a level 5 (or higher) on their ECMS jury, and has completed all of the requirements for the Advanced Diploma will have the following printed on their diploma:
- Advanced Diploma in Piano
The same candidate who does not reach a curricular level of 5 by graduation but has satisfied all other requirements, will be granted the diploma, but it will not include the name of their major. Their diploma will have the following printed on it:
- Advanced Diploma in General Studies
Candidates majoring in music theory must pass the Comprehensive Theory Exam (for Diploma) and/or receive a grade of "3" or "4" or '5" on the AP Theory Exam (Advanced or Pre-Conservatory) in order to receive their diploma printed as follows:
- Diploma in Music Theory
- Advanced Diploma in Music Theory
- Pre-Collegiate Diploma in Music Theory
Otherwise, their diploma will say:
- Diploma in General Studies
- Advanced Diploma in General Studies
- Pre-Collegiate Diploma in General Studies
Diplomas with Honors
Most diplomas are also available in an instrument or voice "with Honors".
