Career Skills in the 21st Century
A highly subscribed class taught by Adrian Daly (DMA ’94), Associate Dean of Admissions and Retention, this special class focusing on Music Entrepreneurship will feature a talk by John Paulson (MA’76), founder and President of MakeMusic, Inc.   A published composer and arranger, John continues to be active as a music clinician and guest conductor.

Organ as Art: The Memorial Art Gallery Fountain Court Collection
The University’s Memorial Art Gallery is now home to a fully restored Italian Baroque organ installed in the Herdle Fountain Court. Nancy Norwood, Curator of European Art, discusses the impact of the installation of the organ, followed by a performance on the restored organ.Program repeated on Saturday.

Professor Ellen Koskoff can be heard on Rochester’s WXXI-FM radio, hosting her show What in the World is Music? In this special session she will discuss new programs in World Music and Ethnomusicology.

Eastman’s model chamber music outreach program recently celebrated ten years of successful performances. Coordinator Elinor Freer will give a brief presentation on the program, followed by a panel of students discussing their experiences.

Hear from Dr. Ramon Ricker (DMA ’73), Senior Associate Dean for Professional Studies, Director of the Institute for Music Leadership, and Professor of Saxophone, about the Institute for Music Leadership’s programs and current projects. Topics will include the New Venture Challenge and Polyphonic.org, a cutting-edge resource for orchestra players.

Previously the main campus of the University of Rochester up until 1923, the Prince Street Campus remained a vital part of the Eastman Campus for four decades. Eric Booth on the Entrepreneurial Approach to Audience Development
Learn from noted leader in music Eric Booth about the role of the 21st century musician, especially in regards to audience building, advocacy and engagement. Booth is on the faculties of Juilliard and The Kennedy Center, and is the author of the acclaimed book The Everyday Work of Art. He hosts a nationally syndicated radio program on the Business Radio Network and has made regular appearances on CNN and NBC.

Kopelman Quartet
Coinciding with Eastman Weekend, this is the second concert in the annual Eastman-Ranlet Series. Led by Mikhail Kopelman, Eastman Professor of Violin, the quartet will perform an all-Shostakovich program in celebration of the composer’s centenary.
