Join Dean Douglas Lowry, alumni, families, and friends for an exciting concert featuring Alarm Will Sound, a 20-member band comprised of Eastman School of Music alumni. The New York Times has called the group “the future of classical music,” and with diverse experience in composition, improvisation, jazz and popular styles, early music, and world music, they bring intelligence and a sense of adventure to all their performances. Following the performance, enjoy a reception at Trattoria Dell’Arte and meet members of the band.

Join fellow alumni, families, and friends for an evening with the Philadelphia Orchestra. The performance is conducted by Charles Dutoit and includes the Women of the Philadelphia Singers Chorale, directed by David Hayes. The program includes Bartók’s Suite from The Miraculous Mandarin, Debussy’s Nocturnes, and Holst’s The Planets.
Enjoy a reception with hors d’oeuvres and open beer-and-wine bar prior to the performance. We will be joined by Eastman School of Music alumni who are staff and members of the Philadelphia Orchestra, including James Undercofler ’67E, president and CEO of the Philadelphia Orchestra and former dean of the Eastman School.

Alumni Brunch in Honor of John Beck

The Eastman School of Music Percussion Alumni would like to honor John Beck for his over 44 years of teaching at Eastman! As most of you know, John will be retiring at the end of this school year. He will be giving a final recital on May 4 at 3:00 in Kilbourn Hall. In his honor, there will be an Alumni Brunch from 11:30-1:30 at the Inn on Broadway prior to his concert and a reception following the concert. The per person cost for the brunch will be around $40 each and alumni will be invited to contribute to a commemorative gift. Family members are certainly welcome to attend the brunch, concert and reception. Since all the events are scheduled for one day, we sincerely hope that all of you will be able to join us for honoring a great teacher, performer, mentor and friend, who has shaped so many of our careers.

Eastman at the Kennedy Center: Triple Threat

“Triple Threat” comprises three outstanding young jazz pianists from the Eastman School of Music, who play alternately in the familiar piano trio setting with bass and drums. The result is a quintet of musicians featuring a rotating “trio” of pianists. The ensemble is coached by pianist Harold Danko, chair of the Eastman School of Music Jazz Studies and Contemporary Media department.
Join University of Rochester alumni, family and friends for an evening at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, with a performance by Triple Threat. After the concert, enjoy an hors d’oeuvre reception with open beer-and-wine bar with the new Dean of the Eastman School of Music, Douglas Lowry.
The concert is free of charge and open to the public, but reservations are required to attend the private reception.
