Alice M. Kurtz has been a staff member at the Eastman School of Music since July 1997, and currently serves as Administrator in the Office of Academic Affairs. In this capacity, she has a broad range of responsibilities in managing the academic life of the School.
Alice supports the Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs with planning and administering the annual Convocation; the individual studio lesson assignments for the Graduate Teaching Assistants (TAs); and the Graduate TA Prize.
She supports the Executive Associate Dean with the management of all faculty records (contracts, promotion/tenure reviews, academic leaves); provides statistics and reports for annual recruitment of students to faculty performance studios; and prepares accreditation reviews for the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) and all program registrations with the New York State (NYS) Education Department.
In addition, Alice records the official minutes for meetings of the faculty, the department chairs, and the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee and maintains the official archives of these records.
Alice M. Kurtz, a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Rochester, previously served in the ministry of elementary school education both as a teacher and principal. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in History and a Master of Science degree in Education from Nazareth College of Rochester, and completed additional graduate studies in School Administration at Fordham University. She holds permanent NYS certification in teaching (Pre-K-6) and in school administration.
